BR (100 and 200 mg kgà1 p.o.) was administered for eight successive days to both young and aged mice. Elevated plus maze and passive-avoidanceparadigmwereemployedtoevaluatelearningandmemoryparameters.Scopolamine (0.4mgkgà1i.p.)wasusedtoinduceamnesiainmice.TheeffectofBRonwholebrainAChEactivity wasalsoassessed.Piracetam(200mgkgà1i.p.)wasusedasastandardnootropicagent.BRsignificantly improvedlearningandmemoryinyoungmiceandreversedtheamnesiainducedbybothscopolamine (0.4mgkgà1i.p.)andnaturalaging.BRsignificantlydecreasedwholebrainacetylcholinesteraseactiv- ity.BRmightprovetobeausefulmemoryrestorativeagentinthetreatmentofdementiaseeninelderly.
