Modelling techniques depend highly upon designer’s skills, time, and e?ort to obtain acceptable results, and cannotbeusedtoautomaticallygenerateterrains.Thesimplermethodsallowonlyanarrowvarietyofterraintypesando?er littlecontrolontheoutcometerrain.TheGeneticTerrainProgrammingtechnique,basedonevolutionarydesignwithGenetic Programming,allowsdesignerstoevolveterrainsaccordingtotheiraestheticfeelingsordesiredfeatures.Thistechniqueevolves TerrainProgrammes(TPs)thatarecapableofgeneratingafamilyofterrains—di?erentterrainsthatconsistentlypresentthe samemorphologicalcharacteristics.Thispaperpresentsastudyaboutthepersistenceofmorphologicalcharacteristicsofterrains generatedwithdi?erentresolutionsbyagivenTP.Resultsshowthatitispossibletouselowresolutionsduringtheevolutionary phasewithoutcompromisingtheoutcome,andthatterrainmacrofeaturesarescaleinvariant.
