Anewequivalentcircuitforacoplanarwaveguideloadedwithsplitringresonatorsispresented.Thetraditionalcircuitsthat modelthesedevicesareonlyabletocharacterizetheleft-handedpropagationband,andtheirresponseisverysimilartothereal onewithinaverylimitedbandwidth.Incontrast,thisproposedbroadbandequivalentcircuitisabletoportraynotonlytheleft- handedpropagationband,butalsotheright-handedonethatoccursathigherfrequencies.Besides,theresponseofthiskindof basiccellscanbeadjustedwiththeproposedcircuitmodelinabandwidthclosetoadecade. 1.Introduction of the equivalent circuit of [5–7] is proposed. This new equivalentcircuitpreservestherigorousdescriptionofthe physicalmechanismsoftherealcircuitand,atthesametime, isabletosimultaneouslymodeltheleft-andright-handed transmissionoverabandwidthclosetoadecade. The paper is organized as follows. Section2 discusses theequivalentcircuitderivation.Section3presentsaspeci?c design and the associated results. The performance is also comparedwiththetraditionalequivalentcircuit.Finally,in Section4,themainconclusio
