Objective.Tocomparecenterofmass(COM)compensationinthefrontalandsagittalplaneduringgaitinpatientswithlarge diameter head total hip arthroplasty(LDH-THA)and hip resurfacing(HR). Design. Observational study.Setting . Outpatient biomechanicallaboratory.Participants.Twogroupsof12patientswithLDH-THAandHRrecruitedfromalargerrandomized studyand11healthycontrols.Interventions.Notapplicable.MainOutcomeMeasures.Tocomparethedistancebetweenthehip prostheticjointcenter(HPJC)andtheCOM.Theratio(RHPJC-COM)andthevariability(CVHPJC-COM)werecomparedbetween groups.Hip?exor,abductor,andadductormusclestrengthwasalsocorrelatedbetweengroupswhileradiographicmeasurements werecorrelatedwiththeoutcomemeasures.Results.Inthefrontalplane,HRshowslessvariabilitythanhealthycontrolsatpush- o?andtoe-o?andRHPJC-COMiscorrelatedwiththemusclestrengthratios(FRABD)atheelcontact,maximalweightacceptance, andmidstan
