Thesinksarethenabletoef?cientlyroutemessageswhich areonlyvalidinparticularregionsofthedeployment.Inourpreviouswork(seethe5thand 6thciteddocuments), weproposedacombinedcoverageareareportingandgeographical routingprotocolforlocationdependentmessages,forexample,queriesthatareinjectedby sinks. Inthispaper,westudythecasewherewehavestaticsinksandmobilesensornodes inthenetwork. Toprovideup-to-datecoverageareastosinks,wefocusonhandlingnode mobilityinthenetwork.Wediscusswhatisabettermethodforupdatingtheroutingstructure (i.e.,routingtreesandcoverageareas)tohandlemobilityef?ciently:periodicglobalupdates initiatedfromsinksorlocalupdatestriggeredbymobilesensors. Simulationresultsshow thatlocalupdatingperformverywellintermsofquerydeliveryratio. Localupdatinghas a better scalability to increasing network size. It is also more energy ef?cient than our previouslyproposedapproach, whereglobalupdatinginnetworkshavemediummobility rateandspeed.
