Methods:Across-sectionalsurveywasconductedthroughmulti-stagesamplingapproachthreeyearsaftertheWenchuan earthquake. Results:Atotalof2525subjectswereinterviewed.SymptomsofPTSDwerereportedby8.8%oftherespondentsfromthe seriouslyaffectedareasand0.5%,thelesshitareas.Prevalenceofchronicdiseaseswas39.2%and22.1%respectively,and two-weekprevalencerate,24.9%and12.7%respectively.Inthemultivariateanalysis,two-weekprevalence,displacement, noregularincome,receivingmentalhealthsupportafterthedisaster,familymembersdiedormissing,injuredduetothe quake,andpersonwhowitnessedsomeonebeingkilledorinjuredwereindependentlyassociatedwithhigherprevalence for symptoms of PTSD. Most subscales of SF-12 negatively correlated with age, chronic diseases, two-week prevalence, injuredduetothedisaster,homeorpropertyloss,andscoreofthe3-yearPTSDsymptoms,butpositivelycorrelatedwith highereducationandhigherhouseholdincome. Conclusions:TheratesofphysicaldiseasesandsymptomsofPTSDwererelativelyhigh,andthequalityoflifewaspoor amongvictimsinthehard-hitareas3yearsaftertheearthquake.PhysicalimpairmentcorrelatedwithsymptomofPTSD, andbothwerenegativelyassociatedwithqua
