In XX Rspo12/2 gonads, germ cell proliferation, expression of the early meiotic markerStra8,andentryintomeiosisareallimpaired.Inthesegonads,impairedentryintomeiosisandgermcellsexreversal occur prior to detectable Sertoli cell differentiation, suggesting that b-catenin signaling acts within the germ cells to promoteoogonialdifferentiationandentryintomeiosis.OurresultsdemonstratethatRSPO1/b-cateninsignalingisinvolved inmeiosisinfetalgermcellsandcontributestothecellulardecisionofgermcellstodifferentiateintooocyteorsperm.
