Methods:Acohortof1,332womenwasinterviewedduringearlypregnancy.Weascertainedpsychiatricdiagnosis statusandcollectinformationaboutsleepduration,daytimesleepiness,vitalexhaustionandperceivedstress. Logisticregressionprocedureswereusedtoestimateoddsratios(ORs)and95%confidenceintervals(CIs). Results:Approximately5.1%ofthecohort(n=68)reportedhavingaphysician-diagnosisofmoodoranxiety disorderbeforeinterview.Comparedwithwomenwithoutapsychiatricdiagnosis,themultivariable-adjustedOR (95%CI)forshortsleepdurationinearlypregnancy(≤6hours)were1.95(1.03-3.69).ThecorrespondingOR(95%CI) forlongsleepduration(≥9hours)duringearlypregnancywas1.13(0.63-2.03).Womenwithpsychiatricdisorders hadanincreasedriskofvitalexhaustion(OR=2.41;95%CI1.46-4.00)andelevatedperceivedstress(OR=3.33;95%CI 1.89-5.88).Observedassociationsweremorepronouncedamongoverweight/obesewomen.
