Methods:ThedatawerecollectedfromtheNorwegianSurveillanceSystemforCommunicableDiseases.Cases weredescribedbyage,placeofinfection,clinicalpresentationofHIVinfection,STIco-infectionandsourcepartner. Weusedsimplelinearregressiontoestimatetrendsovertime. Results:Duringthestudyperiod,991MSM,agedfrom16to80years,werenewlydiagnosedwithHIV.No significanttrendsovertimeinoverallmedianage(36years)wereobserved.MostoftheMSM(505,51%)were infectedinOslo.Intheyears1995-2002,30to45MSMwerediagnosedwithHIVeachyear,whileintheyears2003- 2011thisincreasedtobetween56and97cases.TheproportionofMSM,presentingwitheitherAIDSorHIVillness, decreasedovertime,whileasymptomaticandacuteHIVillnessincreased(pfortrend=0.034orless).STIco-infection wasreportedin133(13%)cases.Anoverallincreaseofsyphilisco-infectedcaseswasobserved(pfortrend0.001). Acasualpartnerwasasourceofinfectionin590cases(60%). Conclusions:Thoughtheincreasesdescribedcouldbeattributedtoearliertestinganddiagnosis,nochangeinthe medianageofcaseswasobserved.ThisindicatesthatitislikelythattherehasbeenanincreaseinHIVinfections amongMSMinNorwaysince2003.ThesimultaneousincreaseinSTIco-infectionsindicatesriskysexualbehaviour andapotentialtospreadbothHIVandothersexuallytransmittedinfections.
