Methods:WegenotypedTPH2geners7305115SNPin215MDDpatientswithsuicideandmatchedMDDpatients withoutsuicide.Differencesinbehavioralandpersonalitytraitsaccordingtogenotypicvariationwereinvestigated bylogisticregressionanalysis. Results:TherewerenosignificantdifferencesbetweenMDDpatientswithsuicideandcontrolsingenotypic(AG andGG)frequenciesforrs7305115SNP,butthedistributionofAAgenotypedifferedsignificantly(14.4%vs.29.3%, p0.001).TheG-allelefrequencywassignificantlyhigherincasesthancontrolgroup(58.1%vs.45.6%,p0.001), buttheA-allelecarrierindicatedadecreasedtrendinMDDwithsuicidebehaviorsthancontrolgroup(41.9% vs.54.4%,p0.001).ThemultivariatelogisticregressionanalysisindicatedthatTPH2rs7305115AA(OR0.33,95%CI 0.22-0.99),familyhistoryofsuicide(OR2.98,95%CI1.17-5.04),negativelifeeventshalfyearago(OR6.64,95%CI 2.48-11.04)andhopelessness(OR7.68,95%CI5.79-13.74)weresignificantlyassociatedwiththesuicidebehaviorsin MDDpatients. Conclusions:Thestudysuggestedthathopelessness,negativelifeeventsandfamilyhistoryofsuicidewererisk factorsofattemptedsuicideinMDDwhiletheTPH2rs7305115Aremainedasignificantprotectivepredictorof suicideattempts.
