Keywords:: foreign language learning; communication skills; culture; Acquisition 1 ‘The fundamental purpose of foreign language teaching is not to teach grammar, but rather develop communicative competence; generated language learners not only to comply with syntax requirements, but also to comply with social norms, to be reasonable and appropriate propriety’ (Liu Runqing, 1999:161). ‘Communicative competence’ (Communicative Competence) was first used by the American anthropologist and social linguist Hymes (D. Hymes) made in 1972. Chomsky made the concept of ‘language’ (Linguistic Competence) in opposition, both in language ability, which also covers the use of language. With the proposal of the concept of communicative competence and linguistic development of the theory, it is increasingly recognized that ‘acquisition of any language must be learned by the rules of their language and culture’ (Liu Runqing, 1999:167). Each language has its own grammatical rules, while there own set of pragmatic rules (that is, how to gracefully complete the interpersonal Applied Linguistics). The pragmatic rules are closely related to their own culture, which involves the use of such language groups, social system, customs, ways of thinking, values, religious beliefs, moral standards, lifestyle, national psychology, aesthetics and viewpoints.
