Shanghai 200092 , China) Abstract: The 也rth-rockfill dam is one of the oldest and most ∞mmon type of dams. A strong earthquake will cause cracks , water leakage , landslides , liquefaction. water blasting and other risks in the dam. There have been a number of earthquake accidents or se- rious darnages in the earth-rockfill dams at home and abroad , resulting in a substantialloss of lives and property. In this paper. the method of using earthquake insurance to transfer the earthquake risks during the ∞nstruction period and the operation period is put forward. First of all. the role of earthquake insurance is analyzed , and preliminary research is done on the earthquake insurance pre- mium rates of earth-rockfill dam projects based on earthquake risk analyses. Finally. the earthquake insurance mode combining rnan- datory earthqual宝e insurance with voluntary commercial earthquake insurance is proposed. Key words:earth-rockfilled dam;earthquake risk;
