How ever, it is still confronted w ith pro lems in real- time control and control system . A CAN - us- ased distri uted HCCI control system w as designed to o tain closed loop control on HCCI gasoline engine in order to ensure real - time control. Meanw hile, a layered management strategy w as developed to achieve highly real- time control as w ell as to simplify the couplings etw een the inputs and the outputs. The entire control system w as stratified into three layers, responsi le for load management, com ustion phase control and mechanical system control respectively, each w ith its ow n specified closed loop control strategy. T he system is outstanding for its explicit configuration, easy actualization and ro ust performance. T he experimental results show that, w ith the layered management strategy and control system applied, real- time control over HCCI operation ecomes possi le.
