2005 68 w016 * ( 610041) Chemical Modification of Carbon Nanotubes You Yujing, Qu Meizhen (Chengdu Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chengdu 610041) Abstract Chemical modification of carbon nanotubes have been attracting considerable attention in contemporary nanotube literature. The study of chemical modification is essential for extensive application in nanotechnology. The modified tubes differ from pristine material in their good solubility and subsequent chemical reactivity. In this paper, recent literature in the field of chemical modification are presented. Derivatization reaction of exohedral and endohedral modification of carbon nanotubes are mainly discussed.
