In this study, w e reviewed ur experience w ith ECMO supp rt and attempted t identify fact rs w hich m ight pred ict in - h spital m rtality. METHODS Fr m 2004 t 2009, 12 1 patients received VA ECMO. W e retr spectively analyzed clin ical rec rds f these 121 c nsec utive patients. Dem graphics, clinical characteristics at the tmi e fECMO supp rt, ECMO related c mp licati ns and in- h sp italm r tality w ere c llected. L gistic regressi n analysesw ere perf rm ed t investigate predict rs fm rtality. A P value 0. 05 w as accepted as sign ificant. RESULTS 82 patients w ere w eaned ff ECMO and 69 patients survived and discharged. The verall survival w as 57% . Any ECMO related c mp licati n, renal failure and infecti n w ere risk fact rs ass ciated w ith in- h spitalm rtality. CONCLU SION ECMO is a justifiab le alternative treatm ent f r card iac and pu lm nary failure after cardiac surgeryw hich c u ld rescue ab ut 60 percent f t
