Chinas traditional urban-rural dual structure affects the coordination between urban and rural areas in socio-economic sustainable development. At the beginning of the new century, the urban-rural dual structure is gradually repealed, and the initial pattern of urban-rural integration of economic and social development has been shaped. In this context, how to implement the urban-rural integration policies and planning became the focus of governments of different levels, planners and urban researchers. In this study, we summarize the context, theory, and framework of urban-rural integration development and choose Suzhou as an example, summarize the experience of urban-rural planning, implementation, and explore useful expectations and lessons for the urban-rural integration development of other areas.
