2007年同等学力英语辅导讲义之五 卷二部分 Part I: English-Chinese Translation Section A: 2006年真题回放 One of the chief concerns of wildlife management is the protection and improvement of the natural habitat so that animals have enough food and water to survive. Wildlife management involves care of the soil to produce good vegetation; it also involves care of plants, not only as a source of food, but also as protection. Animals need cover to hide from their natural enemies and to raise their young safely. Just as crops are harvested, wildlife too must sometimes be “harvested”. By allowing limited hunting, good management can control certain species that threaten to overpopulate their habitat. Section Two: Sentences 1. On the other hand, the dull child is less curious, far less interested in what goes on and what is real, more inclined to live in a world of fantasy. 2. In Japan, however, where babies are carried on their mother’s back, infants do not acquire as much attachment to eyes as they do in other cultures. 3. People might not be able to stay alive: knowing neither joy nor pleasure, neither anxiety nor fear, they would be as likely to repeat acts that hurt them as acts that were beneficial. 4. Other signs suggest school authorities were at least as eager to make a political statement as to keep schools open. 5. But for many, the fact that poor people are able to support themselves as well without government aid as they did with it is in itself a huge victory. 6. While American firms often talk about the vast amounts spent on training their work forces, in fact they invest less in the skills of their employees than do either Japanese or German firms. 7. If American workers, for example, take much longer to learn how to operate new flexible manufacturing stations than workers in Germany (as they do), the effective cost of those stations is lower in Germany than it is in the United States. 8.
