IntroductionAbstractHumanhepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC),with500,000-1,000,000newcasesandcausingapproximately1,000,000deathsannually,isthefifithmostcommonmalignancyintheworld.Sincetherehasnotyetbeenaparticularlyeffectivetreatment,seekingforbettertreatmenthasbecomethemajorproblemfacingus.TraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM)withdistanthistoryincancertreatmenthasitsuniqueadvantagesinlivercancerprevention,treatmentandpreventionofrecurrenceandmetastasis.However,thechemicalcompositionsofmanyherbalsandtheirexactmechanismsremainunclear,whichhashinderedtheirfurtherstudyandbeingwidelyrecognized.Currently,theseparationofeffectivecomponentsofChinesemedicineandresearchesonthepharmacologicaleffectsisbecominganimportantwaytostudyhowChineseherbalmedicineistreatingcancer.TraditionalChineseMedicine―maorenshen‖,therootofActinidiavalvataDunn,iscommonlyusedinclinicalcancertreatmentinJiangsuandZhejiangprovinces.Withanti-tumorandanti-inflammatoryeffects,itwasappliedtotreatmentoflivercancer,lungcancerandmyeloma.Afterstudyonthecomponentsof―maorenshen‖,corosolicacid(CRA),onekindoftriterpenoids,wasfoundasoneofitseffectivecomponents.AsmedicineforpreventionandtreatmentofobesityandtypeⅡdiabetes,CRAhasenteredthePhaseⅢclinicalefficacyevaluationofU.S.FDA.ResearchesshowthatCRAhascytotoxicityeffectonmanyhumantumorcelllines.Itwasalsofoundtoinhibittumorcellviabilityandinducetumorcellapoptosis.Onthebaseofpreviousrelatedwork,thissubjectistofurtherstudythegrowthinhibitoryeffectofCRAonlivercancerbothinvivoandinvitro,andpreliminarilydiscussedpartofitsprobablyrelevantmechanisms.ObjectivesTostudytheeffectsofCRAontheproliferationofSMMC-7721cellsinvitro,andobservethecorrespondentmorphologicalvariations.ToexploretheapoptosiseffectofCRAonSMMC-7721cells.ToevaluatethemitochondrialmembranepotentialchangesandtheexpressionofcytochromeCbothinmitochondriaandcytoplasm.ToexploretheinfluenceofCRAontheexpressionofapoptosisinduceproteinBaxandtheanti-apoptosisproteinBcl-2.ToobservetheinhibitoryactionofCRAonnudemouseliversubcutaneoust
