“哥特”一词代表着野蛮、恐怖、落后、神秘、黑暗时代、中世纪等多种含义，并且逐渐扩展到了各个艺术领域，形成了独特的中世纪复古风格的艺术特色，随之派生出哥特式建筑、国际哥特式绘画，哥特小说（黑暗小说）、现代“哥特式”电影和“哥特”音乐(以哥特式摇滚为主)。其中，哥特小说与“哥特式”电影经过长期的发展，已经渗入了我们的日常生活之中，并成为现代文化中必不可少的一部分。“哥特式”作为一种艺术风格能在现代以不同的艺术形式呈现在人们的面前，绝非偶然。它适应着现代文化的发展趋势——人的非理性（感性）对理性的质疑、人对自我生存价值的质疑和人在现实世界中对信仰的质疑发展着。而这类质疑从哥特式小说到“哥特式”影音图像，都已鲜明的表现出与其它风格不同的特征和精神。本文以哥特小说经典之作（《奥多芙的神秘》、《僧侣》、《德拉库拉》等）和脍炙人口的“哥特式”影片（《剪刀手爱德华》、《夜访吸血鬼》、《吸血惊情四百年》、《断头谷》等）为例，来阐述现代“哥特式”作品所表现的精神，这种精神是当人类面对巨大、超自然的那些自身无法解释的事物时，从中体悟到的从感官到心理的恐惧，上升为一种被解脱的愉悦之感。在文艺上，“哥特式”艺术作品通过“魔鬼”形象来营造恐怖氛围；通过“贵族”情结体现人物形象的高贵精神；通过作品中主人公的“孤独感”来表达人性中最美好的信念；通过“暴力”因素传达作品中的悲剧色彩。在美学上，“哥特式”精神是对传统美学中崇高理论的继续深入的探讨。关键词：哥特；“哥特式”精神；哥特小说；“哥特式”电影。Gothicrepresentsthebrutal,terrorist,backward,mysterious,darktimes,theMiddleAgesandsomeothermeaning,andgraduallyextendedtothevariousartisticfields,formingauniquebygonestyleofmedievalart.Afterthat,GothicArchitecture,theInternationalGothicpainting,Gothicnovels(darknovel),themodernGothicfilmsandGothicmusic(mainlyGothicrock)cameintobeing.Amongthem,theGothicnovelsandGothicfilmsafteralong-termdevelopment,haveinfiltratedintoourdailylives,andhavebecomeapartofindispensableinmodernculture.Gothic,asanartisticstyle,hasbecomedifferentartisticformsinmoderntimesisnotaccidental,butinevitable.Itadaptstothedevelopmentofmodernculturaltrends–thedevelopmentofpeople’squestioningontheirrational(emotional)totherational,thevalueofself-survivalandthefaithintherealworld.WhilesuchquestioningsfromtheGothicnoveltotheGothicaudio-visualimages,haveshowntheircharacteristicsandspiritdistinctfromallothers.Thispaperelaboratesthespiritinmodern―Gothic‖works,basingonclassicGothicnovels,suchasTheMysteriesofUdolpho,Monk,Dracula,etc.andthepopular―Gothic‖films,suchasEdwardScissorhands,InterviewWiththeVampire,Dracula,SleepyHollow,etc.Thisspiritariseswhenpeopleconfrontwithgiganticorsupernaturaleventsthattheycannotexplain.Theycansensethefearsensuallyandpsychological,andthenitchangesintoapleasureofrelief.Inliterature,Gothicartisticworksusethedevilimagetocreateaterroristatmosphere,us
