AbstractThescholarsconsiderthatfamily-ownedenterprisesisthemostuniversaltypeofbusiness,especiallyinChinasprivateenterprises,mostenterprisesarefamily-ownedenterprises,amongwhichthenumberofsmallandmedium-sizedfamily-ownedenterprisesisthemost.Sincethereformandopenpolicy,Chinassmallandmedium-sizedfamilybusinesshasdevelopedrapidly,makingasignificantcontributiontoChinaseconomictake-off.Atthesametime,inthegrowingprocessofsmallandmedium-sizedfamilybusiness,therearealsosomeproblems,suchasshortcorporatelife,foreignmanagersareintolerable,imperfectcorporategovernance,andsoon.Theseproblems,tosomeextent,restrictthedevelopmentofsmallandmedium-sizedfamilybusiness.Basedontheseabove,accordingtothemainproblemsanddevelopmentdifficultiesofChinassmallandmedium-sizedfamilybusiness,westartourresearchbyanalyzingtheprincipal-agentrelationshipofsmallandmedium-sizedfamilyenterprises,andtoexploreitsmainprincipal-agentproblems,tryingtofindasolutiontothemainproblemsofthegrowthofChinassmallandmedium-sizedfamilyenterprisesthatarefacing.Basedonprincipal-agenttheory,wefirstgiveoutabriefdescriptionofthebackgroundandsignificanceofthisstudyleadstothestudyoftheresearchstatusquoathomeandabroad,andanalyzestheconnotationoftheprincipal-agenttheory,themainpointsofviewaswellasitsapplicabilityinthefamilyenterprisesanalysis,buildingafamilybusinessagencyrelationshipframeworkasthecoreofsmallandmedium-sizedentrepreneur.Asfollowing,wedescribedifferentdefinitionsofdomesticandforeignscholarsonfamilyenterprises,wealsodefiniteChinassmallandmedium-sizedfamilyenterprisesinthisarticle.Atthesametime,intheanalysisofsmallandmedium-sizedfamilyenterprisesmainlyexternal,internalagencyrelationshipbasedonitsinternalagencyrelationship,focusingontheuseofprincipal-agentmodelarediscussedindetailindifferentstagesofgrowthagencyrelationshipevolution.Then,theanalysisofthedeparturefromthestatusquoofChinassmallandmedium-sizedfamilyenterprisescharacteristics,combinedwithitsexistingprincipal-agentproblems,thecommissioningparty-basedbusinessow
