Abstract0-3 and 1-3 PZT/IPN composites were prepared in view of the respectively prominent merits of Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) piezoelectricity ceramics and Interpenetrating Polymer Networks (IPN), the electric properties of these composites were studied.PZT ceramic fibers and ceramic powders have been prepared via sol-gel route and subsequent thermal treatment. The ceramic fibers are about 25μm~50μm in diameter and 7cm in length. The ceramic powders are nano grains. The transformation process of PZT crystal formed and the changes of crystal grain size during thermal treatment were analyzed by the thermal analysis and XRD, and then sintering program was determined. The effects on electric properties of PZT ceramic were investigated, including preheating temperature, frequency, environment temperature and polarization.With IPN as matrix, 0-3 PZT/IPN composites were prepared by solution mixing method, and 1-3 PZT/IPN composites were prepared by the method of fibers bundle irrigated by IPN. The effects of corona polarization on PZT and PZT/IPN composites were studied, and the polarization parameters were determined respectively. Microscopic pattern of these composites were observed: PZT powders distributed in matrix with mostly the original shape and size. PZT fibers kept fibrous shapes in 1-3 composites. The electric properties of 0-3 composites series with different PZT mass fraction were studied and the results indicated that, with the increase of PZT in composites, the electric performance parameters of composites toward the values of PZT ceramic; other effects on electric properties of composites were investigated, including temperature and polarization treatment of PZT. By comparing the electric properties of PZT/IPN composites with the different connection of PZT in system and with the same piezoelectric phase mass content (75%), it showed that dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 1-3 connectivity are better than that of 0-3 connectivity composites.Key
