Observation on the clinical effects of integration of Yupingfeng San and modified Guizhitang on laryngeal cough caused by special physique or weakness of WeiqiAbstractObjectives: To observe and study the clinical effects of integration of Yupingfeng San and modified Guizhitang on laryngeal cough caused by special physique or weakness of Weiqi, hence to provide a possible formula.Methods: 80 cases of LC were divided into two groups. Group A were treated with Yupingfeng San and modified Guizhitang, a dose per day; and group B with Loratadine dispersible tablets, 10mg per day, taken before sleep. After ten days of treatment, all the TCM symptoms and the general throat signs were recorded to assess the treating effects.Results: (1)Clinical evaluation: 11 cases in group A (the treatment group) were cured, 17 cases significantly effective, 9 cases effective, 3 cases of ineffective with a total effective rate of 92.5%. In group B (the contrast group), 8 cases were cured, 10 cases of significantly effective, 17 cases of effective and 5 cases of ineffective with an effective rate of 87.5%. (2)Clinical symptoms and signs evaluation: in group A, main symptoms(cough, itching and dry throat, foreign body sensation in pharynx) and signs(pharyngeal mucosa edema and lymphoid follicles) were of better effects than those ingroup B with a significant difference(P＜0.05). (3)Safety evaluation: all thepatients showed no adverse reaction.Conclusion: The treating effects of integration of Yupingfeng San and modified Guizhitang on laryngeal cough caused by special physique or weakness of Weiqi are obviously better than that of Loratadine dispersible tablets.
