Clinical curative effect research  on treatment of knee  osteoarthritis with QiangjinjianguTang Abstract Speciality: Orthopaedics Author: LUO Wang-hua Tutor: Prof. ZHANG Jun-zhong Purpose: Observe the clinical curative effect on treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) with QiangjinjianguTang. Method: 120 knee osteoarthritis sufferers were randomly divided in to QiangjinjianguTang group, aminoglucose group and control group, and there were 40 sufferers in each group. Patients in each group were intra-articular injected by sodium hyaluronate, once a week, continuous administration of 5 weeks. The first group was given QiangjinjianguTang to be taken orally for five periods of treatment, and seven days is a period of treatment; the second group was given aminoglucose to be taken orally for five weeks; the third group was only injected with sodium hyaluronate. One, two and five weeks after the treatment, symptoms, symptom scores, arthritis impact indexes and security indicators of the sufferers were assessed. Result: after comparison of general curative effect five weeks after the treatment, the total effective rate of QiangjinjianguTang was 90.0%, that of aminoglucose was 80.25%, and that of the control group was 77.5%. The differences between the three groups have statistical significance (P＜0.05), and they showed that all the three medicines could significantly relieve sufferers’ symptoms and improve their knee joint functions. During the  treatment,  there was no significant result of adverse reactions caused by  drug use. Conclusion: QiangjinjianguTang with sodium hyaluronate injection into III articular cavity to cure knee osteoarthritis is effective in treatment, especially for range of motion, joint swelling, tenderness of the knee improved significantly week. But its mechanism of action and long-term effect remain to be verified and clarified through further animal experimental research and clinical observation. Keywords: QiangjinjianguTang; Aminoglucose;
