Therefore it is important to accurately assess the clinical effect of botulinum toxin-A. Here we reviewed current parameters assessing the effect of Botulinum toxin-A in literature： efficacy and safety The efficacy of BTX-A injection is measured in manyways， including subjective questionnaires （e.g. patient’s personalsatisfaction scale/Patient-reported outcomes/subjective scales）and objective parameters. Here we will discuss in details the pros and cons of these assessment systems. Further we will introduce the use of retention rate as an objective parameter in assessingthe therapeutic effect of Botulinum toxin-A， with focus on its current use， featuresand development. 　　Key words： botulinum toxin-a； effecacy； safety； retention rate 　　肉毒毒素是一种肉毒杆菌分泌的毒性蛋白质，它能作用于人体胆碱能系统，抑制其靶器官发挥功能[1]。因其作用特点，目前肉毒毒素被广泛应用于临床治疗和医疗美容领域。资料显示，2016年全球肉毒毒素市场规模达到3.6亿美元，预计将以年复合增长率9%的速度逐年增长，具有巨大的商业价值。因此，正确评价肉毒毒素的治疗效果，对于指导肉毒毒素的临床应用具有十分重要的意义。本文就肉毒毒素的评价方法、特点做一总结，并提出保留率作为肉毒毒素疗效评价的一项有利工具。 　　1 药物评价方法与肉毒毒素评价特点 　　1.1 通用药物治疗评价方法：对药物进行评价有许多指标，通用的指标包括药代动力学的指标和药效动力学的指标。在药代动力学方面，临床通常使用生物利用度（F）、分布容量（Vd）、半衰期（t1/2）及清除率（CL）等四个指标分别代表药物在体内的吸收、分布、代谢、排泄过程；在药效动力学方面，使用药物受体结合率、药物有效性、药物作用强度、药物毒性等指标代表药物对人体的作用情况。 　　1.2 肉毒毒素的特性与评价特点：肉
