ABSTRACT With the expand of productive scale and improvement of intensive management, and the transform of productive mode from mass production to single production according to the order，the requirements of productive facilities are higher and higher． To meet the need of the enterprise’development，the passage introduces the originality and development of the TPM，the status quo and evolution tendency of equipment management of modem enterprises. Enterprises must enhance their profitability if they want to survive in the current harsh financial crisis. To achieve this goal and meet the needs of competitive efficiency, quality, delivery, cost and customer satisfaction ,they must own a strong-beat heart, which is OEE （ Overall equipment effectiveness） in the enterprises. OEE is the evaluation index of TPM （ Total Productive Maintenance） . TPM is a continuous improvement process based on the autonomous maintenance which is executed by all employees. The promotion of TPM causes OEE to be used in more and more manufacturing fields, and at the same time, OEE becomes the key performance indicators of the equipment management. Based on the analysis and study of TPM, the paper researched the OEE from definition, constitution, formulary, substance, history and practical circumstance in various industries. It also clarified the study of the relationships among OEE, prevention Maintenance, State Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Lean Production, other equipment maintenance guidelines and the status of OEE in equipment maintenance management. According to the status quo of equipment management of Company ZMSK，the passage give a deep analysis to the feasibility of operating the TPM and puts forward some concrete processes to do that．It also gives some suggestions to each of the problems that exist in the modem management system．Otherwise it explains how to improve OEE and go ahead for Zero Failure． Key words: Overall equipment effectiveness, Total Producti
