Digital STB(Set-Top Box), PMP(Portable Media Player) and PC(Personal Computer) can all be a terminal equipment of digital TV, to use the PCs to receive digital TV signal, can take the advantage of the powerful multimedia process abilities of PC, most of the function can be realized by PC software, while the PC receiver card(hardware) only need to demodulate received signal. The PCs have become more and more widely-used nowadays at home, the computer has experienced the combination of game, multimedia and network, and now, it going toward to the combination of household appliances, using the PC for watching TV maybe one of the step. This thesis focuses on the software system of PC’s DVB-S USB receiver card, makes a detail analysis of software structure and functions of every module, after understanding how the hardware works. Encapsulation of IP data in MPEG TS is a important extend by the DVB(Digital Video Broadcast), receiving of IP data is one of the important functions of DVB-S receiver, this paper describes how to grab the IP data which is encapsulated in MPEG TS on the network driver, and sending it to higher layer of system. DirectShow is a powerful tool for multimedia development on Windows Platform, the use of DirectShow inclues playing the live TV and playback of recorded file, this thesis describes how to use the card device driver, audio/video splitting filter and audio/video decoding filter to build the filter graph, control the program playing, additionally realize the function of screen capture and subtitle overlay. While in file playback mode, a audio/video splitting filter that support pull mode input is needed, it pulls data from source filter, extract audio/video ES(Elementary Stream), deliver the ES to audio/video decoding filter, this paper describe
