摘 要 本翻译报告是报告作者针对《警察伦理》第十章所做的关于美国警察文化 负载词及其翻译补偿的归纳与研究。本文从文化和文化负载词的概念出发，综 合不同文献资料，总结分析了语言与文化、文化与法律翻译之间的各种关系， 进而追述美国警察文化负载词的渊源及其英汉翻译中遇到的问题。报告作者进 一步对英汉翻译补偿进行界定与分类，并通过提取《警察伦理》第十章部分语 料作为例句，结合前人的经验与自己的心得体会总结了六种美国警察文化负载 词的汉译补偿技巧，即：释义法、引申法、转义法、增词法、具体化及形象 化。 法律翻译是不同法律文化发生碰撞时的疏导，是连接不同法律文化的桥 梁，其方法需要法律翻译实践者及其理论研究者在一般翻译方法上进行提炼、 加工及总结，如何有效处理跨法律文化中存在的问题，一直是法律实践者及其 理论研究者所企图解决的难题。 关键词：文化负载词；翻译补偿；美国警察 Abstract This is a report on the translation of chapter ten of Police Ethics. More specifically, it is a research on American culturally-loaded words in policing and their relevant compensatory translation skills presented by the writer of the report in narrating practical translating ideas concerning legal translation from English into Chinese. By searching for relative literature resources, the writer of the report endeavors to define culture and to figure out what exactly culturally-loaded words are and to sort out the relations between language and culture, as well as between culture and legal translation, and so as to explain the forming of American culturally-loaded words in policing. By making a further research, the writer gives a definition of compensatory translation and concluded six compensatory translation skills, including paraphrase, extension and implication, transmission, amplification, specification and imagery, which are proved by examples selected from chapter ten of Police Ethics and the writer?s translation of it. Legal translation should be a dredger when different legal cultures collide so as to make understanding flow blocked; it is also a bridge linking different legal cultures. In respect of its skills, legal translation practitioners and its theory investigators are supposed to abstract from, to process and to conclude from the general translation skills. How to effectively solve the problems existed in multi-legal-cultures has been a puzzle which legal translation practitioners and its theory investigators are trying to sort out.
