Forty scholars coming from five continents were involved in the authors of the book. Most of them have joined conferences of the International Oral History Association, and their articles have reflected not only the diversity of themes and content of oral history but also its identity of methodology. It’s a great honor for me to translate part of this book through the invitation of doctor Song. Although there have been many obstacles in the process, I conquered it at last and learned many things from it. This translation program took four months to be finished, one month for preparation, one month for modification, and only two months for translation. During the two months, I carefully read the original according to requests, and tried to understand it clearly. Then I chose to use suited translation strategies and translation methods, so as to make the translation not only delivery the ideas of authors but also make the target language readers accept from the heart; In addition, I have listed obstacles I faced and the solutions of them. After this translation practice, I deeply felt that to work on translation the translator should not only has strong English and Chinese, but also has a large scope of knowledge.
