Gratitude goes first and foremost to my supervisor, Dr. Liu Jihua, who has taught me how to translate and how to translate better. His continuous encouragement, patient guidance, thoughtful consideration, insightful comments, constructive suggestions, extensive knowledge in Chinese and English languages and English language learning and teaching have deeply impressed me. Dr. Liu and Ms. Zhao Haiping gave me the chance to take part in the project of translating and editing Savouring Local Zhejiang. My interest in this topic emerged during the process. I have also benefited from several teachers in the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ningbo University. Prof. Zhang Minglin has guided us to contribute good translation work and use efficient translation tools; Prof. Zhao Fa has “infected” us with his “immersive” method in literary translation; Ms. Liu Chunhui’s passion to website news translation has also encouraged me in my translation practice.
