Abstract English writing as an important productive and communicative skill is always considered the most significant skill among the four basic skills of English language, thus attracts many English scholars and teachers, and increasingly, great importance has been attached to it. The most fundamental problem of writing is the lack of interest and no confidence in writing, and thus students feel very difficult to start a composition and have nothing to say in writing practice. Product approach, process approach and genre approach are the three dominant approaches in the field of writing in China, but these approaches have advantages as well as disadvantages. The researcher applies the creative thinking strategies to process approach in order to stimulate students’ inspiration, increase their interest and strengthen their confidence to accomplish the ultimate goal of improving their English writing ability.
