Liquid: three forms : gas (g) , liquid (l), solids (s) Gas: Particles are far apart and moving at high speed. Liquid: Particles are packed more closely together by mutual attraction, yet they are still free to move about and allowed to slip，slide and glide over. Solid: Particles are held together tightly usually in a definite arrangement—crystal lattic(晶格). Particles just vibrate slightly within it. 2 Properties of gases， liquids and solids (1)Many solid are crystalline, and most crystalline have the different properties in different directions. （look at pictures on P15 ） (2) Liquid can be poured, solid can’t. Liquid take the shape of lower part of container. (3) Gases do not have a definite shape or volume. They take the shape and volume of container they occupy. They diffuse rapidly.
