After the base feature has been created, the Tab, Contour Flange and Flange commands can be used to continue modeling the part. * * When using the Tab feature for the base feature in the model file, the user must conform to these basic rules. Much like part modeling the base feature must be closed. Open profiles aren’t valid since the open end would automatically be extended off into infinity. After the base feature is created, the next tab features added to a model should be open, but with a catch. The open ends of the profile should always point towards the existing model. If a profile does not extend in a direction that ‘hits’ the model the feature will not place. Only single profiles are allowed per feature; this is no different from Part. Users do not have to think about which side to add the material. Solid Edge knows where the model is and will automatically add the material thickness according to the profiles’ proximity to the part model. Tab features can’t interfere, connect to, intersect, or even touch a bend on the model. This is not allowed. Profile end points have to connect to the same planar face of the model. You can not add a tab to two faces of the model in one command * In these valid profile conditions notice that the basic rules are applied. All profiles attach to one planar face.
