Conclusions: 1. Electric acupuncture is one of the effective method to treat severe functional constipation. Electric acupuncture treatment effect is better than sham electric acupuncture treatment . electric acupuncture can improve the symptoms of patients with constipation, improve the quality of life of patients, It is worth clinical promotion. 2.After treatment the patients serum VIP levels reduced , content of SP increased. after sham electric acupuncture and electric acupuncture treatment , the serum VIP levels and VIP MD reduced. It suggested that one of the mechanism of action of electric acupuncture in the treatment of FC may be by impacting the content of VIP and SP. Plasma VIP and SP content can be used as reference index of curative effect evaluation.
