ABSTRACT Gain flattening filter (GFF) based on thin-film filter technology, is one for erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) spontaneous emission (ASE) spectral features designed to reverse filter for spontaneous dissipate EDFA gain is too high part of the radiation, so that the target wavelength range of the filtered output gain as flat as possible, the output signal power of each channel as a balanced, thus contributing to reduce system error. GFF device has great market potential as to it effectively broaden the EDFA gain. Based on passive device technology and designed, GFF with isolator meet the EDFA in the commercial on cost and performance requirements. The GFF with isolator focused on the design of the product structure and production process from product –oriented, and designed a welded structure GFF with isolator according the GFF principle. By adjusting the angle of incident light to achieve the actual GFF curve to meet the objective EDFA design curve requirements, so that the actual peak to peak error function (PPEF) minimize, meanwhile integrated the function of the device isolation. It comes to the collimator design structure and parameters as to theoretical calculation and analysis in order to obtain the change of the angle of incident light. Meanwhile, in order to cope with this use of the collimator, using a filtering technique based on thin film filters as a core component. Under structure design and theory analysis of this new type GFF with isolator, it supplies the method of sample building. Through the experimental data analysis and evaluation, we can come out the GFF with isolator product can achieve the companys product development goals and meet commercialization.
