* * * * Yeasts molds are used as negative classes for bacteria (and reverse). It allows to generate No ID answer in case of wrong selection in the prep station (bacteria instead of yeast or molds). When bacteria is selected in the prep station, peak list is compared only to bacteria matrix (645 models) When yeast molds is selected in the prep station, peak list is compared only to yeast mold matrix (110 models) * * In the workflow a sample spectrum is compared to the bin weight matrix, i.e., to BWS of all 586 species contained in version 1. For each species in the database a [score] is computed (table) and transformed to a probability. For example a score of +2.315 for species A translated to a probability of 99% that the analysed strain is species A while a score of –0.762 for species I translates to a probability of 5% that the analysed strain is species I. The probabilities for all species are ranked and and a result is transfered to Myla were it can be evaluated. * * * * The target slides are disposable and are divided into three acquisition group – each with 16 slots. For each of these group there is a dedicated spot for the control strain (E Coli). The QC sample is tested twice. Once before all samples in the corresponding group are tested and once after the testing for this group has been completed. Only if the control sample result meet the result criteria the result for the 16 samples testing in the group are released. It takes about 15 minutes for testing a group of 16 specimens including the controls. The target slides are re-usable in the sense that if an acquisition group has not been used in a particular run the slide can be used again. Once the QC has been run for an acquisition group it can not be used again.
