ABSTRACT With the development of the times and the progress of science and technology, the diversification of modern materials, the new concept of infiltration and the expansion of thoughts of creators, the language in the form of presentations becomes more and more rich. The recreation of formal language in the sculpture creation becomes the inevitable requirement of era development. The formal language in the decorative sculpture is the result of the created of material, it relies on the creators’ subjective consciousness, the observation and the summarization of the natural form; it is a variety of forms to express their understanding of the nature through the combination of elements; it is the bridge to express the relationship of human people, the nature and society; it is a kind of carrier with sculptors’ emotion and will. Different forms reflect different performance results in decorative sculpture. In this sense, art is art, form is the key. Form of sculpture works of art appeal plays an extremely important role; many arts become immortal by means of the immortal form. Contemporary art leaves form language independent aesthetic transformation, it is epoch-making in the form of performance and it has a deeper development in the spirit of art space. In this paper, the author through the analysis of four elements of decorative sculpture’s formal language, according to analysis of the form elements of classical sculpture on the eastern and western sculpture, to make readers to understand the line, face, body and other components in sculpture. Combined with the sculpture works in this paper, I explore application of line, surface, body in sculpture, the conversion of point, line, surface and body of each element, the relationship of form and content and expression of emotion.
