Experimental Experimental Study on Acoustic Emission with Ultrasonic Characteristics of Conerete Author：Gao Hao Major：Structural Engineering Supervisor：Sun Jian—heng Hao Wen．xiu Abstract The work stress of concrete is the most important factor in safety evaluation of the concrete structures in service．However,most tests on the work stress of concrete are damage detection methods，which not only“damage”the actual building，but also change the original stress state to a certain degree．Because of their convenience and accuracy,the two kinds of nondestructive testing methods一．ultrasonic wave and acoustic emission．are widely accepted in practical engineering．Nevertheless，the above two methods are most applied in testing concrete strength and faulted condition，not in work stress state，the following research work are contained in this paper． Compare the effect make by different maintenance period and test．piece to ultrasonic wave propagation speed，by studying concrete cube and prismoid test block in uniaxial compression study．The research showed that the time stability of ultrasonic wave velocity of higher grade concrete is better than that of the lower grade concrete；the relationship between work stress of prismoid concrete and ultrasonic wave velocity iS better than the stability of test cube；the rangeability of ultrasonic wave velocity is wide in different stress stages，and acoustic emission activity iS different．When it comes to breakdown stress． ultrasonic wave velocity will decrease about 20％than original wave velocity；there iS no regularity between ultrasonic wave amplitude and concrete stress，thus amplitude is not appropriate used for testing mad evaluating concrete work stress．On this basis，relative velocity coefficient and concrete stress damage coefficient defined，concrete work stress formula and ultrasonic wave velocity formula are fitted，and two evaluate methods that are used for concrete work stress are posted in this paper． Atier the concrete beam trisection
