摘要并且雌鸟在巢时间比雄鸟多，尤其是暖雏期。此外，研究还表明，东岛的鲣鸟存 摘要 并且雌鸟在巢时间比雄鸟多，尤其是暖雏期。此外，研究还表明，东岛的鲣鸟存 在合作繁殖的现象。 同时开展了红脚鲣鸟食物组成的研究，红脚鲣鸟主要以飞鱼和鱿鱼为食，各 岛屿之间没有差异，但是存在含量百分比和大小的差异。 上述研究工作为今后的研究提出了新的方向。例如，决定繁殖成功率、繁殖 时间选择和繁殖周期等参量的关键因素是什么，为什么会出现合作繁殖?这些问 题的的答案，与觅食行为及其海洋环境有关。因此，今后研究工作应是西沙群岛 红脚鲣鸟觅食生态学的研究。 东岛红脚鲣鸟的形态特征也是一个值得探讨的问题，红脚鲣鸟色型为什么如 此复杂，三类体型的鲣鸟是否属于同一个亚种?合作繁殖的雄鸟是如何判断自己 后代的?因此，这些问题将我们引入微观理论的研究，分子生物学技术运用将会 给这些问题的解答提供合理的解释。同时为研究红脚鲣鸟的起源、繁殖扩散等提 供科学依据。 关键词：东岛 红脚鲣鸟 繁殖时间繁殖周期繁殖成功率繁殖行为 II AbstractABSTRACT Abstract ABSTRACT The study was carried out at Dong Island(1 6．70 N，1 1 2．70 E)，the second lagest island of Xisha Archipelago，in northern South China Sea(1 7．25。N，I 12．460E)．The weather in Xisha Archipelago is tropical monsoon-type climate．The vegetation of Dong Island is well．developed．Profusion of tropical plants cover the island， especially preserving lots of original Pisonia grandis，which forming the southernmost of China’S forests，and which provides an excellent breeding habitat for the Red．footed Booby．The population of Red-footed Booby in China was about 35，000 pairs，aft estimated 10％ofthe world breeding population． Basic study was caflried in 2003．2004，fieldwork was conducted about 2 years from 8 September 2006 to 20 May 2008，giving detailed study of the breeding ecology of the Red．footed Booby，which really includes morphology,breeding stategy, growth modle of the chick，breeding behavior and food． The morphological study included taking photoes and prov iding detail information Otl morphs，variation in bare part colours and the plumages of adult and immature birds．Detailed measurements of adults and juveniles enabled comparisons to be made with colonies elsewhere in the world．The studies show that：Dong Island population contains mainly the white plumage；and also the reversed sexual dimorphism，the female is larger than male．The color of the bare part changed with the breeding period．The size of Dong Island population lies between the big one and the small one，which may because by the size of food
