Methods Ninetythree cases of cataract were divided into two roups at random. Cataract extraction combinedwith IOL implantation throu h nositch small in cision was performed on one roup, and cataract extraction combined with IOL implantation throu h conventional lar e incision was performed on the other roup as controls. Followup was carried out re ularly. Results The avera e uncorrected visual acuity of the small incision roup at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after the operationwere si nificantly hi her than those of the conventional lar e incision roup. Conclusion The small incision of cataract sur ery results in a rapid and better rehabilitation of visual acuity. It needs no expensive instruments, costs less, and is suitable to be popularized.
