Step 1:Greetings
Greet the students as usual
Step 2:Duty report
Let the student on duty give a duty report
Step 3:Lead in
Show some pictures related to the Dragon Boat Festival and then lead students to answer the two questions below:
1. What special day is it?
2. What do Chinese people usually do on this day?
Step 4:Skimming
Let students skim the TV report in 2b and find out the main idea of each paragraph:
A. Activities of Zhu Hui’s family in China
B. How to make zongzi?
C. Activities of Zhu Hui’s host family in America
Step 5:Fast Reading
1. Read 2b quickly and find out the answers to the three questions.
2. Ask some students to read their answer and the key sentence they found, then check answers together.
Step 6:Careful Reading
1. Read the TV report carefully this time (paragraph by paragragh) and find out what Zhu Hui’s family and host family are doing, then fill in the blanks.
2. Check answers
3. Give several important Chinese sentences in this TV report and ask students to find and underline their English sentences.
4. Read these sentences together and try to remember them.
Step 7:Homework
1. Read the TV report as much as possible after class.
2. finish task 2c and use the phrases to make new sentences
