With this system, we can improve working efficiency, while scientify and standardize parts database management. Parts information system which base on LAN must use the computer network communication and database technique, to program management software on the basis of hardware of the computer network. This system includes two parts: the system network analyze and software program. This paper first analyzed computer network, by comparing the type and mode of the network, the Topology, the hardware and software of the network, network agreement etc, prove the capability of network fully meet the need of the search system. Also analyzed the communication technique in computer network. Including data transferring mode, data exchange method, error correction etc. After compared and analyzed every kind of database software, we chose VFP as program software. Through study every function of VFP, and analyze requirement of the database search system, according to current actual circumstance of our company, base on company LAN, confirm and optimize the design of the project, develop the system, program the applied software, to make it have the economical, practical, reliable, flexible etc. The searching system is already used in our company and get positive comment from both colleague and managers. The design idea of this system came into being in practical work, we also adopted suggestions from different department while putting into use. After many times of improvement, it was gradually modified till perfect. It offers rich information, with many searching functions, it is quickly, but also accurate. With this design, we can print in statement forms. Operation interface is simple and practical, it is easy to get all related information of the parts. The searching functi
