The second part will deal with recent research results using accident reconstructions to develop knowledge necessary to develop new solutions for improved pedestrian protection. In the last part advanced solutions for active safety (pedestrian detection, prediction of collision risk, automatic emergency braking) and passive safety (front end design, pop-up bonnet, airbags for A pillar and bonnet edge will be discussed. As a conclusion possible guidelines for improving pedestrian protection assessment method will be proposed.
