华中科技大学硕士学位论文 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract Since the beginning of urban public space where is a place for people contacting and doing activities, people absolutely are the core of urban public space, so all urban public space should be established based on the needs of people who use it. However, we can often see people in urban public space activities can not be guaranteed the safety of the event in the news reports, they may come across fall accident, scratch incident, even lose their lives and so on. There is no doubt that the safety of urban public space is a large and complex subject, which main contains psychological safety, behavioral safety, defense safety and disaster safety. This paper studies the most basic security of the people in urban public space—psychological safety, because it has a direct impact on whether people are willing to use the public space, popularity is the continued existence of urban public space to life. From Jane Jacobs’s book “The Death and Life of Great American” Cities to CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design), we can find with no difficult that accidents and unsafe urban public space environment are closely related to, what’s more, by optimization of the environment can reduce the incidence of unsafe events. In other words, environment of urban public space is its landscape. Therefore, the solution to the problem of psychological safety for urban public space should start from urban public space landscape. The behavior and psychology of people are inseparable with the environment they stay in, that indicates human mind and behavior will be different in a different environment. This paper makes psychological safety and behavior safety as a whole to study, for they are belongs to the daily security needs of people in urban public space.
