AbstractKnown Abstract Known to us，there is a little land for too many human and the land in support is limited in China．With the continual growth of population and decrease of soil，the contradiction of them is outstanding．In order to relax it，the compositive exploiture main in land consolidation BEe being attached great importance．As an important measure of sustainable land use，land consolidation gain a great development in practice and theories．However the latter research have display of weakness for the practice need，so that the theories desiderate enriching and perfecting． Based on work of predecessors，the domestic and oversea study is summarized in this thesis，which expounds the theoretic basis，essential content，elementary objectives and basal principles of land readjustment．The relation and differentiate of land rearrangement．1and exploitation and land reclamation are discussed．The procedure，pattern and the mode offinancing arc illuminated in detail． Land consolidation in Guanzhong area is studied as a demonstration．The substance and conclusions are as follows： (1)There are some problems in land utilization：Rapid decrease of plowland and the sharper contradiction between population and land；The resoBrce in support is shorted for the land utilization main in cultivation；It is not rational for the land utilization makeup and the benefit is low；Excessive and primary utilizing coexists so that agricultural environment deteriorate；Land pollution and waste are serious． Therefore land consolidation must be done in Guanzhong area now． (2)The evaluation methods of land consolidation potential are designed．They are corresponding to each rearrangement patterns． (3)To Guanzhong area，space analysis of land consolidmion has been done． Three first level zones and eight second level can be divided into and land consolidation in first level zones is dissertated． (4)Witll quantitive measure，the order of choosing and implementing a project is determined by opportunity analysis o
