Post-WTO Post-WTO Opportunities and Challenges Faced by Local Listed Companies in Shanghai(LLCS) Abstract in English China’s entry into WTO has been a set deal．Consequently,the pattern of Chinese macro—economy will be significantly changed．From the long—term perspective，the entry will surely cast more favorable impacts on the running of China’s economy than unfavorable ones．However,in the short-to—middle run，the aggregate picture hides much variation across difierent industries．nlerefore、it is imperative for domestic companies to get familiarized with WTO rules and compose relevant strategies as soon as possible．Most domestic enterprises suffer from low competitiveness in the global market．which is especially reflected in the lacking of core competence and ill management．Most of them take cheap labor force as their mere advantage，but unfortunately,this advantage is far from enough in the fierce competition worldwide． According to the difierent post-WTO conditions．the LLCSs can be classified into two categories：to-be-advantaged and to．be．disadvantaged．The fornler category includes the textile sector，the harbor transportation sector and the real estate sector etc．while the latter includes the automobile sector,the chemical sector,the financial sector,and the electronics communications sector etc．By analyzing the financial and operational data ofthe LLCSs from these sectors and probing several sample industries，this thesis summarizes their opportunities and challenges respectively and proposes some strategies for them to address these issues． Compared with the sever prospect，the preparatory work done by Chinese enterprises is still in its infancy．So．the WTO experts are in tl】e most．needed】ist announced by the Shanghai Municipal Government．Through this thesis，readers can gain a panorama of post-WT0 impacts on various sectors and get some useful references．WTO will bring nlore opportunities than threats for those domestic enterprises that have clear and objective 、’iews
