Abstract The Research on the Red Cross Movement of Shanghai in the reign of Northern Warlords Government The Research on the Red Cross Movement of Shanghai in the reign of Northern Warlords Government Abstract During the Russo-Japanese War, the Red Cross Society of China was founded in Shanghai. As the birthplace of the Red Cross Movement of China, Shanghai occupied an important position in the history of China. At the beginning of the Republic, the Red Cross Society immediately convened the First General Membership Meeting and Unified Conference in Shanghai. By the two congresses, the construction of the Red Cross Society was gradually improved ,the internal contradictions what between Shanghai Branch and Beijing was disappeared. On the basis, the parliament which was leaded by Shanghai Branch became the core of the Chinese Red Cross. At the same time, the Shanghai Branch jointed many other branches which were the members of Shanghai Branch had made significant achievements in rescue on battlefield ,disaster relief , medical services and etc. In the reign of Northern Warlords Government, the government was not only supervising the Chinese Red Cross, but also try to including the Red Cross Society to the system of government. However, during the Northern Warlords Government, Chinese Red Cross was still the civilian and independent organization.
