华中科技大学硕士学位论文 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract Building the fisrt-class universities is nearly a century of our nations dream． In order to speed up the pace of building first-class universities，in the 1990s，the state started the 211 Project and 985 Project， with a view to adopting a certain period of time the focus of support and construction of some key domestic universities among the world-class university list． But we also see that Chinas first-class universities made considerable progress in the building at the same time，the distance from world-class universities there are significant gaps． There are many reasons for the gap, its roots in the Chinese University of the same phenomenon seriously and a general lack of characteristics．Looking at the world-class university， the reason why they maintain strong vitality in higher education in the fierce competition lies in their distinct characteristics． In recent years， a growing number of scholars recognize that the school-running feature has become the lifeline of colleges and universities for the survival and development， and higher education emphasize the school-running feature have become a world trend． Therefore， the research on school-running feature of the world-class university will have an important reference for china． As world-class universities of different cultural backgrounds and different social orientation have their different characteristics of the school， in order not to study a mere formality，this paper special select the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a world-class universities sponsoring a study of the characteristics of cases． On the basis of clarifying the theory of school characteristics， this paper deeply analyses the school-running feature of Massachusetts Institute of Technology． The college has three characteristics： the spiritual characteristics of the college create the future; the characteristics of personnel training the training of innovative personnel;
