The comparative investigation on the health services before and after enforcing the new rural cooprative medical care in xiushui county Abstract Objective: To investigate the work of new rural cooperative medical system (NRCMS) in Xiushui county of Jiangxi province, explore the status of new agricultural medical cooperative experimentation, understand farmers need and use in the health care before and after the implementation of NRCMS, analysis trends on demand and utilization of rural health services in order to further improve NRCMS to provide a scientific basis. Method: Using the stratified random sampling method, house-to-house surveys on the rural residents of via interviews were conducted both before and after enforcing the new type rural cooperative medical system. Statistical analysis of these indicators, two-week prevalence, prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, two-week visiting rate, two-week non-visiting rate, the hospitalization rate, the rate of non-hospitalization, and so on. Results: The rate taked part in NRCMS of XiuShui County farmers was 96.22% in 2009. A total of 2538 people in this survey, including 1307 men, 1231 women. The average age was (34.22 ±8.21) years. The level of education were mainly to primary school, and junior middle school-based. In survey population, the poor households was 15, the number of households of 2.46% of total survey. In 2009, the population surveyed, two-week prevalence was 112.03 ‰, prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases was 61.35 ‰, two weeks of bed rest was 26.32 ‰, two weeks off work (school) was 40.64 ‰, the rate of two weeks III visiting was 86.74 ‰, not visiting rate was 12.38%, hospitalization rate (the number of people) was 56.57 ‰, the rate of requiring but not visiting hospitalization was 12.38%.
