China National Environmental Monitoring Centre，Beijing 100012） Abstract:The evolution of sustainable development and ecological civilization is a constantly deepened, gradual and ’ historical process. This process is closely related to global and China s specific conditions and changes, and both concepts and practices are closely linked. The relations are mainly reflected in: ecological civilization construction in China and sustainable development progress in the world echo each other at a distance, the concept of ecological civilization is the extension and Chinese version of sustainable development theory, the paths for realizing ecological civilization and sustainable development is consistent; both concepts are proposed under the background of increasing resources and environmental constraints, both e mphasize the coordination and integration of different fields, and emphasize the importance of protecting the environment but also is not equal to the environmental protection.
