Abstract Increasing number of vehicles on a High speed Track urges enhancing the safety for all the users. These tests have an extreme range of relative speeds between vehicles and include many different kind of dynamic manoeuvres having as a result potential high risk driving conditions. The VRAIN project has furtherly enhanced previous V2V-GNSS based collision warning systems designed in previous internal developments and implemented and validated a nomadic OBU functional prototype. The project has also implemented a set of tools designed to aid in the development and validation of this type of active safety systems. This paper describes the current status and technical characteristics of the safety system, summarizes its main features and introduces future enhancements planned for its development and deployment.
